Battlefield V: why it went out before our eyes? How Battleground 5 has changed in 2021

In this article, I would like to avoid classifying myself as a member of the ru bf community and reflect on the released content, its quality, quantity and the reasons for the extinction of such a well-known, but abandoned by fans, project on the part of an ordinary gamer who gives preference to projects that not only attract better, but are also able to retain.

I’m not biased, which means that both EA and Activision with their magic, with due persistence, can capture my attention – it is important that the developers try to do this.

What’s wrong and why am I?

So, in order to get ahead of criticism like:

Dude, I paid for this game full price, your money $60, therefore, I, as a consumer, can and have the right to express everything I think about the project, even in the form of an article or its video version.

Is there a lot of content in the game?? – Yes

Have the developers coped with the visual design of the content and the variety of maps?? – Yes

Do I feel abandoned?? – FUCK YES!

A bunch of promises, the release of the game and the accompanying bugs, the developers’ banal indifference to the opinions of the guys who bought their project, as well as the initially unnatural path chosen by the developers for BF 5, with a bunch of dark-skinned women for one faction or another, toxic coloring, cyborgs; and all this – in the Second World War!

Let me remind you that World War II (not to be confused with the Great Patriotic War) lasted from 1939 to 1945.G., and was, in essence, a war for the dominance of its military-political coalition. What can I say, at the moment this is the largest military conflict in history. Thousands of books have been written, films and chronicles have been made, and games have finally been released. And here: the announcement of the beloved and respected new part of the Battlefield series in the “world war II” setting.

The biggest buhurt after the announcement, of course, was taken over by the impatiens with a painted face and 1st disability group. We are talking about a girl without an arm, jumping so furiously and cutting up enemies in a trailer, more energetic than absolutely healthy soldiers. It’s understandable – the trailer set the bar, and from that moment on there was no point in expecting a super-serious shooter from the developers on the market for this very seriousness.

If the average player really imagines soldiers who fought in World War II as shown above. Then maybe I just got to the wrong place. Why can you glean and discern a style bordering on drama from footage of chronicles and feature films, but you just want to laugh at the concepts for BF V !

Release

2018 – game release. We won’t even consider the bad technical part of the project at the start: guys like DICE can forgive it. True battle fans were glad that it even existed. And the frostbite engine is not an easy one, it is unique in its own way. In general, every battle consistently ends in the same bad state.

Okay, we saw a pretty beautiful picture, phenomenal effects and some animations, strange shooting, normal tickrate, at least on the PS4 and XBOXone consoles, and finally – a complete lack of sane logic in what was happening both on the battlefield in online battles and in the scenarios of war stories.

One of the stories did not exist at all – it was added a month later

There were a lot of promises, a lot of cries like:

Dialogue between developers and community

The funniest and most explosive comments from representatives of the publisher and some of the developers were a reaction to the indignation of the guys online. Imagine: you bought a game, write about its shortcomings and rough edges, which, if desired, can be at least smoothed out, not to mention getting rid of most of them, and the official answer literally insults you as the end user of the product, or, to put it simply, blows your ass up.

One lackey once saw in the criticism of the game characters the infringement of women

and completely ignores really important comments, that is, he responds on the official Twitter account, out of context, in order to create hype and look right to investors, bosses and people watching from the sidelines.

And yes, all adequate comments under his posts are ignored by him. It’s a pity that this guy didn’t understand then that the game is not bought by feminists from Twitter, not by gender minorities and not by people who buy EA shares (they do buy it, but this is a drop in the ocean of potential buyers from the absolute majority).

Well, the funniest thing:

The following thought suggests itself: developers and publishers do not understand that the bulk of popularity and success comes neither from pleasing the screaming guys on Twitter, nor from the satisfaction of investors, but only from retaining and attracting the average gamer, to whom both you and I most likely count ourselves. That’s why I felt abandoned in response to the complete self-confidence of the developers.

Having analyzed this whole online situation, the complete cessation of support for the project looks logical and natural. But the game still functions normally! Both you and I can play it.

Who remains on the battlefield in 2021?

Yes, as one could understand, I safely abandoned the bf, occasionally returning to it at the time of the release of one or another update. And with what surprise I played every time the developers silently patched the game where the players scolded. And as a result, a technically ideal shooter was found for 2021. Damage, ping and player movements were calculated perfectly, it looked nice, you won’t see a single bug when playing now!

To my personal regret, this did not save the project itself in any way, since the most fatal mistakes were in the gameplay. Maybe EA couldn’t see the embrace with DICE, or maybe they just didn’t waste their energy on the corpse of the once sensational game.

Gameplay as it is

This is where I will speak my mind fully! Usually the sorcerer is criticized for its balance and, no matter how stupid it may sound, the battle, in pursuit of someone else’s audience, takes over everything from its competitor, even problems.

That’s how I see it.

Shooting – it’s just tough. Okay, bullets count, but those who played will understand me: each weapon feels the same in the hands – like a shooting stick.

Semi-automatic, automatic, but in the end there is no feeling of a deadly weapon. You don’t feel the full weight of the trigger – you just press the button, see the hit marker, keep your sights on the target until it dies. Okay, if this was the only fundamental problem, but the useless and unpleasant recoil on any automatic weapon could be fixed. On top of that, any barrel that is clamped in this game also has an infinitely large drop in damage at a distance of more than ten meters from the enemy. What I mean by this: never before has damage done so well in battlefield; if you have a sniper in your hands, you can raise the scope, take it a little higher than the target and see how your bullet reaches the target in an arc – everything is cool here. But what’s the point of this feature if only snipers use it?? The balance of weapons forces the team to camp, the usual BF gameplay in part 5 is simply not there!

Technique done in a cool way: now you can select different types of tanks directly in battle and fill out the vehicle ticket with your favorite ones or the one that is currently required on the battlefield. You think everything is cool? Yeah, I was daydreaming. The mechanics of the vehicle are broken by a crooked implementation – the one who took the tank at the beginning will either never merge on it, or will sit in the bushes a kilometer away from the battle while the enemy team with tigers and planes bends over you, because the same developers were scolded about the shortened ammunition and the artificial imposition of team play (which has not been in the game since release!)

Briefly about the rest

There is nothing to say about the visual design of the cards, for example – they all look cool. The map designers did their best and it shows. However, these words do not apply to everything else. The design of the weapon, modules and skins are 2-3 variations, the same for all weapons. That is, throughout the game, each player has access to green, blue and gold camouflage. And you are probably naturally asking:

It would be hard to call content what the studio added in each chapter. In more than 50+ hours, I have not seen a single player on my team, or the enemy team, have a weapon or skin that has not existed in the game since release.

Although I haven’t spent, it seems to me, many hours in the game to understand the full picture of what is happening, but even if everyone used the cosmetics added by the developers after the release, I still would not have noticed anything, since all the camouflages and customization elements are made either at a low or at an ordinary level for content that needs to be opened.

The developers have stopped supporting their most supported game for 2021. Currently, all combat chapters are closed: even content that was released earlier, and which, in an amicable way, should be available to every player, but can only be found in the in-game store.

It would take a long time to list where EA screwed up: the first-person animations look super crooked and crap, constant problems with movement, the inability to take equipment fairly, your party being scattered in different directions in the session, unplayable weapons, imposition of teamplay, the predominance of campers and, finally, the maps themselves.

MAPS and CONTENT

Holy Father, how beautiful and shameful they are at the same time! If you once played on maps that imposed their own specific gameplay, you will understand: the metro with its frequent skirmishes, bloody dawn with a city assault, etc., and in BF 5 they simply put the bolt down and chose the most miserable style of play on all maps.

RUSH style in the open field. There is no point in continuing, since the problem with the maps is not that they represent a field, but that no one destroys or blows up anything, since the tanks are stationed somewhere at the base, and small infantry ride motorcycles and run in the bushes. There is simply no gameplay on them in the usual sense. Only skirmishes between small groups of soldiers here and there. I understand, not without this, but you can see something other than such a coincidence of events? Yes, you can see a sniper fight – where under every bush, stone and on every hill there will be a “Voroshilov shooter”.

During the second year, new large-scale events were also added to the game, but either the players were waiting for something else, or the events themselves were done on the knee, and on the scale of the entire game they did not transform it.

For example, take the war in the Pacific. All added maps could only boast the possibility of storming across the water surface on a boat or tank. In theory it would have been cool, but damn it still came down to rush in open area. And the balance of the maps, as I said earlier, leaves much to be desired – they are built in such a way that one team has a positional advantage, which means that even teams with equal strengths will ultimately not see confrontation. The fight will be one way.

Understand correctly, I launched maps from the Pacific chapter dozens and dozens of times, and each time it was like this: either one team was superior to the other in skill, then the whole team simply sat in the bushes as a sniper, thereby breaking the whole atmosphere of that same Battlefield, and sometimes the previously mentioned “superminds” from your team occupied a ticket with military equipment and rode somewhere far from the triggers on the map. My guess: what the guys from Dice definitely failed to do was correctly balance the sides of the battlefield!

And even with this format of the fight, everything that you see and hear around immerses you very deeply, and yes, this is the part of the article where I will praise and talk about the unlimited potential of the project.

Atmosphere on the battlefield

The sounds of gunfire, flying planes, continuously firing machine guns, crushing tanks and pieces of earth flying towards you from shell explosions – this is the first thing you will hear to one degree or another when you enter any match.

As for the animations seen from the outside – they are great! From the explosions, the corpses of soldiers fly straight at you, pieces of sleepers, fences, screams and ricochets of shells fired in your direction from a tank.

Every time I returned to the game, I felt that the game had changed, and I would finally stay here longer, but, unfortunately, as often happens, I was only lucky enough to forget for a while. I sincerely wish this series endless success in the future because. because I see potential.
