Code Geass: Lelouch the Risen – review.

He is risen! But why?
The denouement of the second season and the last full-length film did not leave room for an appropriate continuation: all storylines ended on a high note, and Lelouch, for whom he atoned for everything he had done, for whom he suffered a well-deserved punishment. However, Lelouch the Risen marked his return. To the question: “Why?"The cartoon doesn’t give a direct answer.

There are no questions about the logical side of the resurrection, but the artistic validity is almost completely absent: Lelouch acts as the only force that in the current situation is capable of turning the tide in his favor. Perhaps this is the only reason why he was resurrected: they decided to let him leave not on a tragic note, but on a happy one, showing his best sides, since in the film he did not make a single “villainous” action, showing him as a positive hero. That is, the story told completes not so much the story of Code Geass in general, but the story of Lelouch in particular, taking him to a new quality.

In this case, this is appropriate, since the finale did not cancel out the ending of the second season and the second full-length film, leaving the state of the world as it was before the third part, with an insignificant, but for some pleasant, for others unpleasant change.

Speaking of past feature-length cartoons. “Lelouch the Risen” is a continuation of the remake cartoons, where the content of some of the events was rewritten, but here it is little felt, literally in two places and does not greatly affect the perception.

And there is something to perceive besides Lelouch. Fortunately, in other aspects the cartoon remained in the spirit of the series and with all its might it exposes and savors the accumulated qualities in new forms: many new, spectacular, ambiguous characters, for example, the sister and brother of the kingdom, cunning plans that use strategy and tactics in synthesis with Geass, rare emotional scenes, whose endings show the relationships of the characters and decide the outcome of many scenes, pathetic monologues with mockery, fast, spectacular battles of mechs, harshness and cruelty of approaches and of course completely inappropriate pornography!

The classic cocktail of the series was created without innovations, but since its strength has justified itself more than once, this was not necessary, and what is there looks and sounds flawlessly, causing a lot of impressions, and making you not regret the allocated money and time. The only drawback is the inability to remember new names and titles, due to their large number and small mention.

In fact, the film’s only stumbling block is its very existence. But since the content is never fatal, and the spectacle is worthy, there is no need to be afraid of viewing. Moreover, this film is designed for those who were saddened by the fate of Lelouch, and for other people in the subject – to once again immerse themselves in an interesting and somewhat original world with their favorite characters. Even if that character is Lelouch La Perouge.
