After a four-year playing career at Hannibal-LaGrange University and five years as an assistant of the HLG men’s soccer program, Michael Brookshire has completed his first season as Men’s Head Soccer Coach at Lyon College.
Brookshire, 32, is a 2003 graduate of Hannibal-LaGrange, earning a B.A. in History and a Minor in Communications. He graduated with honors, Cum Laude, and was a member of the Honors program.
He also recently earned his Masters in Science and Recreation, Coaching Education at Ohio University.
Brookshire, who has a level three National Goalkeeping License, has been a member of the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association for the past four years.
Brookshire was a four-year letter winner at Hannibal LaGrange, playing outside midfielder and goalkeeper. He was All-American Midwest Conference in 2001 as a midfielder, earning Second-team All-Region V the same year.
He went on to become head men and women’s soccer coach at North County Christian School in St. Louis from 2003-07, helping the women’s team to a second-place finish at the Missouri State Tournament in 2007. He was also voted Coach of the Year by the Twin Rivers Christian Activities Association in 2006 and 2007.
Michael is married to his wife Harmony, and the couple has two children, Gareth, age four, and Camden, age one.
